Anderson is Professor Emerita of the Department of Biological Sciences at Towson University. She has served in a number of assessment activities around the globe including consulting roles for the Society of Developmental Biologists Boot Camp in Seattle, Washington and the Asian University of Women in Chittagong, Bangladesh as well as a Co-leader role for The Teaching Professor (Magna, Inc.) Anderson has also served as an Evaluator for the Miami Dade College IA Branch STEM OASIS grant, the CoSMic Scholars at Towson University NSF grant, the Baltimore City Community College NIH BRIDGES grant, the Kent State University and Miami University of Ohio Environmental Aquatic Resources Sensors NSF IGERT, and the Towson University NOYCE Scholars NSF grant.

In the United States and abroad, Anderson has presented over 300 grading and assessment workshops for faculty in community colleges, colleges, universities, and allied health institutions. She has also served as a consultant for numerous professional science organizations (NSTA, NABT, ASM, ESA), national accrediting agencies (MSCHE, SACS, and NCA), secondary school state science grants, and Writing Across the Curriculum funded workshops.

Anderson earned her BS in Biology and Secondary Education from Lamar State College. She holds an MS in Biology Science Education from the University of Georgia and an EdD in the same from the University of Maryland.
