We’re happy to share that we held our first ACUE Advisory Council meeting of 2025!

It was an inspiring conversation with some of higher education’s most visionary leaders:

  • Michael A. Baston, JD, EdD – President, Cuyahoga Community College
  • Summer DeProw, PhD – Chancellor, University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College
  • Shonda Gibson, PhD – Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Transformation Officer, The Texas A&M University System
  • Joseph Helble, PhD – President, Lehigh University
  • Christine Mangino, EdD – President, Queensborough Community College
  • Ted Mitchell, PhD – President, American Council on Education (ACE)
  • Laura Rittner – Vice President, Ohio Association of Community Colleges
  • Tonya Smith-Jackson, PhD, CPE – Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
  • Charles L. Welch, EdD – President and CEO, American Association of State Colleges and Universities(AASCU)
  • Roger Yohe, PhD – Vice President of Academic Innovation and Strategy, Palm Beach State College

This council brings together trailblazers in institutional leadership, policy, and educational innovation who are working to ensure every student, at every institution, benefits from great teaching.

“As higher education navigates financial distress, technological change, and evolving workforce demands, ACUE offers exactly what institutions need to respond. Their proven Effective Teaching Framework informs a complete suite of offerings that ensure faculty stay ahead of the curve while delivering measurable student and institutional outcomes.” — Ted Mitchell, President of ACE & ACUE Advisory Council Member

Together, this group is fueling the movement for teaching excellence in higher education by expanding ACUE Complete, a comprehensive faculty development ecosystem designed to elevate instruction and improve student outcomes at scale.

The group plans to reconvene in November at the National Higher Education Teaching Conference (NHETC) hosted by Times Higher Ed.
