About ACUE

ACUE was founded by leaders in higher education to ensure that all college students receive great instruction. Through a landmark collaboration with the American Council on Education, ACUE provides the only comprehensive, scalable, affordable, and effective program to credential faculty in the evidence-based teaching practices necessary for student success.

  • ACUE’s Course in Effective Teaching Practices helps college educators develop the essential, research-based teaching skills shown to promote student success. This innovative Course showcases exemplary college educators, features leading experts in college instruction, and is designed around latest research in cognition and adult learning.
  • A Certificate in Effective College Instruction, endorsed by ACUE and the American Council on Education, distinguishes faculty who satisfy Course requirements and put research-based teaching techniques into practice.
  • The Course and Certificate are aligned to ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework©. The American Council on Education is endorsing the Framework as a leading statement of the professional skills and knowledge that college educators should possess.
  • ACUE’s membership-based Community of Professional Practice, is a social network focused on advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning, where educators can sustain excellence in instruction.

The American Council on Education (ACE) has endorsed ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework© as a statement of the teaching skills and knowledge that college educators should possess. The research-based techniques presented in ACUE’s Course in Effective Teaching Practices are shown to help students succeed in their studies and persist to graduation.

Educators who complete ACUE’s Course in Effective Teaching Practices receive a Certificate in Effective College Instruction endorsed by ACUE and ACE. The Certificate distinguishes educators who strengthen their teaching by learning about and putting research-based techniques into practice.

ACUE and ACE’s shared goal is to expand dramatically the use of effective teaching practices to benefit students, faculty, and institutions.
