The Career Guidance and Readiness course prepares faculty to integrate career guidance into their classes and helps faculty design and implement projects and assignments that cultivate students’ career-ready, or “soft,” skills.
The course also addresses all of the core teaching competencies in ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework and leads to a Certificate in Effective College Instruction with a Concentration in Career Guidance and Readiness.
Embedding Career Guidance Into Your Course
In this module, faculty learn how to guide students in exploring majors, internships, and career options; create opportunities for students to interact with alumni and upper-level peers; and make explicit the relevance of course learning outcomes to students’ future goals.
Developing Students’ Career-Ready Skills
In this module, faculty learn how to develop assignments, projects, and activities that equip students with the skills they need for personal and professional success, including collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication, and project management.
